IBM Watson Research Team Answers Your Questions

The IBM Watson team took the time to answer some questions from the reddit community. I always think it is interesting learning about new technology:

[Note: I may be legally required to say this now. I work for Nuance who has a business partnership with IBM, and this team specifically. Does anyone know the (relatively) new disclosure laws for blogs about things like this?]

Z-Type

This is a well done “learn to type faster” flash game. Type the words that appear on the screen, and watch them explode:

Locked in a Vegas Hotel Room with a Phantom Flex

Pretty ordinary things look much cooler when you can film them at 2500 fps and play back in very slow motion.

Japan offers global 3-D telecasts in 2022 WC bid

I missed this the first time around, but it popped back up now that Qatar won the bid to host the 2022 World Cup. How could this bid possibly be turned down? Projecting the games onto fields in stadiums around the world?

Ubuntu

In addition to being the theme of the 2008 Boston Celtics, Ubuntu is a flavor of linux – an open source, free operating system. They have a 6 month release cycle, so a new version comes out twice per year. A new version was just released today – you can check it out here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/

If you want to try it out, you can run it as a live disk, meaning you can run it directly off of a CD or USB stick without affecting your current operating system (though with limited functionality).
